A points system is used at each Grand Prix to determine the winner of the World Championship.
The system has changed numerous times during Formula 1’s history. For drivers in 2026, they will receive 25 points for a Grand Prix win, 18 for finishing second and 15 for finishing third.
Those finishing fourth to 10th place also receive a points reward, and there is also an extra point awarded to the driver with the fastest lap time.
